Darlene has always been creating with flowers,since her late teens she has
offered to design the wedding bouquets for her family members. She
started a company in floral design for your home as well as a gift line,
based on the home party concept. Her background in the arts was
enriched in Sheridan College where she made a career change and went
into teaching.
She has continued to teach all of her married life, however still managing
her design business. Silks'N Satin was born when her nine year old son
stated that her old company name did not suite her style and personality,
Out of the mouths of babes came " How about Silks' n Satin mom".
Twenty years later and hundreds of brides her company has grown from
just bouquets to grand decorating, rentals, chair covers and specialty
linens as well as party favors. "From the Simple to the Grand Affair" is
her sales motto.
As a practicing art teacher and artist, she believes in mentoring young
people in her business, some of which are past students. She has run two
wedding shows in the past completely looking after the promotion, sales
and bridal fashion shows. Hockley Valley Resort and Spa hosted The Silks'
N Satin bridal show. Darlene was very proud it drew 650 Brides and guests
75 booths were on site. It is a true passion for Darlene and all her Staff
were friends and students wishing to get experience in the bridal industry.
Darlene runs her business out of a Victorian home in Simcoe County. Her
brides are thrilled with the individualized help and creative guidance she
is able to give with over 30 years experience from her studio.
